Clamping levers
Clamping levers are intended for manual alignment with fixation tasks and clamping applications. There is a lot of variation in this product group due to the range of designs, materials and colours available. These classic elements can be used in a wide variety of applications. However, they are most suitable for machine and plant construction, and in toolmaking.
Clamping levers from KIPP
Clamping levers are operating parts that are used to secure, clamp or lock workpieces. They consist of a grip and a clamping mechanism. The grip is the part that is manually operated.
When the grip lever is lifted, the internal toothing between the grip and the insert is separated. The grip can now be rotated freely without the insert rotating with it. When the grip is released, the two toothed rings re-engage and the grip is once more connected to the insert. When the grip is now rotated, the insert rotates with it. Machine parts, attachments and workpieces can now be positioned and/or released.
Depending on the version, clamping levers are also available with a threaded insert. Actuating the lever generates a clamping force that clamps the workpiece in the desired position. When the lever is reset, the tension is released, allowing the object to be moved again.
Clamping levers are used in various sectors, including:
- In machine and fixture construction for clamping components on machine tables, and in fixtures and clamping systems for precise positioning of workpieces.
- In machining and assembly, for rapid and secure clamping of workpieces. But also for adjustments and fastenings in production processes.
- In the rehabilitation sector for adjusting footrests on wheelchairs or adjusting the handle height on rollators.
- In the outdoor sector on e.g. underwater camera tripods
Clamping levers play an important role when it comes to quickly, securely and precisely clamping or releasing workpieces. Their importance lies above all in the time they save and their ease of use, as they can be operated tool-free. This is particularly important in environments where frequent adjustments are required, such as in manufacturing or assembly. The flexibility and reliability of clamping levers contribute to efficiency and safety in numerous industrial and everyday applications.
Types of clamping levers
The variety of clamping lever models just as diverse as the areas and applications for which they can be used. The KIPP range includes 105 different types of clamping lever.
All versions are available as clamping levers with internal and external threads. The levers, on the other hand, are available in different materials, thread types, sizes, lengths and depths as well as different colours. You can use the filter option to individually narrow down the huge selection.
In the following, we have highlighted the differences between some clamping levers and categorised them for you.
Stainless steel clamping levers
Stainless steel is a corrosion-resistant steel that, due to its high strength and durability is used in demanding environments.
Stainless steel clamping levers differ from models made of other materials by their very good corrosion resistance and resistance to chemicals
They are therefore particularly suitable for outdoor applications, in the food industry or in areas where chemicals are used. In addition, they are lighter than comparable models made of steel or zinc.

- stainless steel with internal thread and protective cap, internal thread stainless steel
Plastic clamping levers
Plastic is a versatile, lightweight material that is used in numerous forms and applications. Plastic clamping levers are also resistant to corrosion and chemicals. At KIPP you can find clamping levers in green, yellow, red and many other colours.
High-performance thermoplastics and polyamide are also plastics. High-performance thermoplastic withstands extreme temperatures, chemicals and mechanical stress. While polyamide is valued for its high abrasion resistance and good mechanical properties.
Matching products:
- Plastic with internal thread, threaded insert black oxidised steel
- Plastic with internal thread and push button, threaded insert stainless steel
- Plastic with external thread, threaded insert stainless steel
Steel clamping levers
Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon that is characterised by its high strength and versatility in construction and industry. Steel clamping levers are characterised by their temperature resistance. In terms of weight, however, they are heavier than plastic or die-cast zinc models.
Zinc clamping levers
Zinc is a corrosion-resistant metal and is suitable for robust applications. Thanks to their temperature resistance, cast zinc clamping levers can be used in areas where higher temperatures prevail.
Matching products:
- Die-cast zinc with external thread
- die-cast zinc with external thread and protective cap, threaded insert stainless steel
Clamping levers with clamping force intensifier
Compared to standard levers, a clamping lever with an integrated clamping force intensifier enables up to 75 % higher clamping force with the same tractive force. This clamping force intensification is facilitated through the integrated axial needle bearing. Click here for the YouTube application video.
These generate less surface friction during tightening. The lower friction allows the lever to be tightened or loosened more easily. As people with limited hand strength can also operate these levers without any problems, clamping levers with clamping force intensifiers are mainly used in the rehabilitation sector.
Matching products:
- Plastic with external thread and clamping force intensifier, threaded insert black oxidised steel
- Plastic with nut-thread and clamping force intensifier, threaded insert stainless steel
- Die-cast zinc with internal thread and clamping force intensifier, threaded insert stainless steel
- Die-cast zinc with external thread and clamping force intensifier, threaded insert stainless steel
Antistatic clamping levers - ESD
In addition to many different clamping levers, KIPP also offers antistatic clamping levers. They belong to the ESD product series, which stands for ‘electrostatic discharge’.
Antistatic clamping levers are used to protect electronic components. They are used in areas where electrostatic discharges may occur. The ESD clamping levers prevent electrostatic discharge thanks to special conductive plastic.

Antibacterial clamping levers
In some application areas, such as hospitals or care facilities, it is important to use antibacterial operating parts for reasons of hygiene. KIPP offers antibacterial clamping levers in the MEDIgrip product series. These levers reduce germ build-up on their surface through a special plastic mixture with integrated silver particles. This prevents bacteria and germs from multiplying and prevents the spread of pathogens and other bacteria.
Matching products:
2K clamping levers
These levers are mainly used at workstations where clamping levers have to be operated frequently. The 2K (2 component) levers are part of the SYMPAtouch product series and are characterised by their non-slip and soft surface. Thanks to the combination of thermoplastic elastomer and fibreglass reinforced plastic, the levers in this product series adapt perfectly to the human hand.
The ergonomic grip enables the user to hold the tool firmly and comfortably, even after several hours of work.

- 2K with external thread, threaded insert stainless steel
- 2K with internal thread, threaded insert black oxidised steel
- 2K with external thread, threaded insert black oxidised steel
Advantages of clamping levers
Clamping levers offer numerous advantages that make them indispensable components in many industrial and technical applications. A major advantage is the tool-free installation and quick adjustment options. These user-friendly levers enable quick and easy operation as they can be tightened or loosened without the need for special tools. This not only saves time, but also makes the work process more efficient. Thanks to their ergonomic design, clamping levers can be operated effortlessly making handling even easier.
Another outstanding feature of the clamping levers is their high retaining force, which ensures a reliable clamping force. This retaining force remains constant even after repeated use, which ensures repeat accuracy and increases application reliability.
The diversity of the KIPP range is also remarkable. The levers are available in various colours. The colour selection makes it easier to identify the levers and can be used to identify safety-relevant components.
The clamping levers are also available in different versions, which enables easy integration into existing systems. The flat clamping levers in particular impress with their user-friendly properties.
All in all, clamping levers are not only fast and reliable, but also versatile and adaptable to individual requirements. They are the ideal solution for numerous applications.
