Ring bolts and ring nuts by KIPP
Ring bolts are used as connecting or stop elements. They are always used when high loads (tensile/weight) have to be picked up. KIPP offers ring bolts acc. to DIN 580 (ring nuts acc. to DIN 582), which are very sturdy and durable. Such are classed as load bearing devises, alongside crane hooks, swivel ring bolts or shackles. Ring bolts owe their name to the ring shaped head and are sometimes commonly called eyebolts. This eyelet forms the anchor point for hoisting belts, chains, winch cables, round slings and similar equipment.
Applications for ring bolts and ring nuts
Ring bolts are primarily used - in logistics - on construction sites - in toolmaking - in workshops - when assembling heavy components - when loading or unloading heavy loads. Generally speaking, rings bolts and ring nuts are often used when heavy machine components or tools have to be transported from A to B. They often feature a mount where the ring bolt/ring nut can be screwed in or screwed on. Cranes or similar load moving equipment is used for transport. Their versatility is evident in their fields of application. They are even used in fence construction for attaching individual elements or barrier chains, and also in ship and yacht building for attaching mooring ropes, mounting handrails and other objects. Due to the materials, such as stainless steel 1.4401, ring bolts and ring nuts by KIPP are seawater resistant.
Many options of ring bolts and several shapes of ring nuts
Choose from different options of ring bolts and nuts from the KIPP range. They differ in thread size and various eyelet diameters. Depending on style different materials are on offer. Ring bolts acc. to DIN 580 are available in steel or various grades of stainless steel. They differ from the option that are manufactured similarly to DIN 580 in that they are CE-marked and have a higher load capacity. KIPP offers models similar to DIN 580 made exclusively of stainless steel. By the grade 10 premium version the ring nut is powder-coated and connected to the screw via a pivot mounted ring. This leads to improved stability and enables loading at 90° to the screw axis. In addition, the swivel ensures that the screw cannot be over tightened or unscrew. The ring can rotate through 360° even with the screw fully tightened. Grade 10 ring bolts are available with or without a hex key. The advantage of the style with key is that it also serves as a locking device. It can be used to prevent the ring bolt from rotating. This type is highly durable and reliable. Depending on style, they feature a load capacity of 300 kg to 4,500 kg. Ring nuts are also available with different thread sizes and eyelet diameters. Ring nuts acc. to DIN 582 are made from steel or stainless steel. In addition, you will find models in the KIPP range manufactured similarly to DIN 582. They differ, as with the ring bolts, in that they do not feature a CE mark and have lower load-bearing capacity. Their advantages lie in being designed with a highly polished surface that enhances objects and provides an aesthetic finishing touch.
The right material for every ring bolt
The right material is crucial and depends on the subsequent application. At KIPP you will find ring bolts and ring nuts in a range of styles in steel and stainless steel. Steel excels due to its solid structure, which is associated with a higher weight. Stainless steel, on the other hand, is a softer metal, but is lighter in weight. The load capacity is the same for both steel and stainless steel models. Stainless steel 1.4301 is ideally suited for everyday applications outdoors and impresses with its durability. If the circumstances are particularly demanding and environmental conditions harsh, as found in coastal regions or on the high seas, then we recommend stainless steel 1.4401. Due to its special alloy, it is sea water resistant and is therefore suitable for yacht and ship building as well as offshore structures.
